چکیده
Data obtained through Volunteered Geographical Information (VGI) have gradually been used to monitor and support planning mainly in urban contexts. Regarding recreational activities peri-urban green natural areas, VGI has map, measure use intensity, profile users, evaluate their preferences motivations. Given extensive use, it is now worthwhile assess the value of data (1) compare uses, users map different contexts (metropolitan vs. rural areas), (2) outdoor adventure tourist products such as Grand Routes (GR). from former GPSies (AllTrails nowadays), one most popular web-share services, were uses Lisbon Metropolitan Area (LMA) southwest Portugal (SWPT). A set 22,031 tracks “on foot” wheels” activities, submitted by 3297 national foreign covering 12 years, was analysed within a GIS modelling environment. Results indicate that, although there are many more submissions LMA, influence foreigners SWPT higher (11% 19%). The existing GR concentrates for hiking (71% 28% users), demonstrating its attractiveness. For favourite activity both areas—Mountain biking—results show spatial dispersion, yet part still conforms (16% 20% use). This study proves other applications VGI, showing usefulness assessing metropolitan areas. Spatial knowledge about valuable tool know what like do, where, also useful information when designing considering potential, thus adding these offers.

With rising instances of extreme events and urban settlements, this paper outlines a pedestrian evacuation modeling framework using volunteered geographical information from OpenStreetMap and simplified queuing-network model to estimate evacuation time, detect bottlenecks and test different evacuation strategies. An example case of a total city wide evacuation is presented for a selection of UK...

Within the framework of Web 2.0 mapping applications, the most striking example of a geographical application is the OpenStreetMap (OSM) project. OSM aims to create a free digital map of the world and is implemented through the engagement of participants in a mode similar to software development in Open Source projects. The information is collected by many participants, collated on a central da...

متن کاملVolunteered Geographic Information and GIScience
What are the research questions posed by Volunteered Geographic Information (VGI)? Does Geographic Information Science (GIScience) appropriately address them or does it need to shift its attention? I discuss changes to current research agendas, propose an arising grand challenge, and outline some specific new research challenges for scientists working within and outside GIScience.
